6:34 pm - eep
Yet another day of 100 degree temps. The corn is doing great while I'm wilting.

I've set out to clean the office today... I'm about an eighth of the way through. I'm looking at a stack of magazines and wonder whether to keep them, cut out the articles I want or to just toss the whole thing into the recycle bin.

Rented Blade 3 today from the new DVD place in Stanley. The convenence store rents VHS but that TV was not hooked up. Note I said *was*. Seems out 27" died over the past month or so. I figure the power flucuations of the house got to it. We'll take it to a repair shop someday.
Andrew is watching some lame "horror" flick called Killer Bee something something. He'll probably review it... so far he thnks its lame. Must be really bad since this is a guy who liked Anaconda.

Still around 80% patched on WoW, so it looks like Sunday at the earliest for my return.

9:04 pm - some people's kids
I just finished reading a very disturbeing thread on a LJ comm.
Someone asked a few questions about gay sex so they could have some background info for a story. Thats all fine and dandy. I think women who write slash ought to have some background before they write, it just makes for a more realistic/believeable story.
Thast not what bothered me.
What bothered me was the comment from some gay guy that all fanfic writers ought to be sent to concentration camps. Yeah. Do you see where I'm coming from on this?
It gets better though.
Another Einstein steps to the plate and says that not only should all fanfic writers be dismembered... that the Holocaust never happened. No camps, no nothing. And somehow he tied in the "alleged plane that crashed into the Pentagon" into this argument too.

Well, let me just tell you guys... its a good thing they were gay... I'd hate to see them breed and carry on those fucked up genes.

9:49 pm - its official
Same Sex Marriage legislation received royal assent today. That makes it law. The first hurdle was the House of Commons, then next was the Senate which gave it its 3rd reading and voted 46-22 with 3 Senators abstaining.
Wheeeeee!

8:13 pm - updates
Mom called today. We talked for a bit. She was wondering about our plans to go down to Mass. for Collin's wedding. I admited that I hadn't made plans yet as we're not sure the best way to get down there nor how long we're going to stay. Well, I can now tell you we're going to drive or (god forbid) take a bus. It would be 1000 bucks for 2 rd trip plane tickets. :(
We talked about Richard briefly. I didn't mention that I saw his profile on b.com. I don't think she wants to know that. She did express frustration at him for not contacting his kids after so long. I love how she called him on it. He said he lost her number and then tried to find her on the internet to which she replied 'why didn't you just call directory assistance?', all he could say was, 'I didn't think of that'. No, Richard, you didn't think of that... you never think.
Anyways, was nice to hear from her.

Brief garden update:
All the strawberries have been picked.
We have pea pods now, we should be picking the first bunch in a week.
Everything else is doing great.

About this munch thing... finally heard back from the mods. They want to do the face-to-face mtg. Andrew got CC'd on the email even though he hasn't filled out the "application forms". He's not that impressed... neither am I. I posted a summary to a comm here and most of the replies said that they were being over cautious and a wee bit creepy. I'm going to give them the benfit of the doubt and meet them though, just in case they are OK and just new at this stuff.

7:14 am - sex
If there is someone on your friends list with whom you would like to engage in a hot, sweaty, 4 hour long sexual encounter which - in terms of voracity - would sound like someone banging two steer carcasses together while stirring a 50 gallon bowl of macaroni and cheese over a public address system, then post this exact sentence in YOUR journal.

9:08 am - WoW news
So, I went out and bought a gamecard yesterday. 60 days pre paid. Yeah, me!
I thought since I reinstalled XP, I'd have to reinstall WoW. So I went through the whole 4 cd thing only to have it screw up on Disk #4 and say something like "failed to decompress XYZ folder. installation failed". Bah. I took a break from that (and mowing/putting up the screenhouse/weeding) and checked my email. 'lo and behold, I got the "failed to resubscribe" email from Blizzard. Heh, CC is still maxed out and the payment isn't going in until end of the month. For some reason, I thought my subscription was a one time thing since I chose the 6 month version. I thought it has been more then 6 months so it had to have been expired already. Nope, I was wrong. I could have been playing this whole time! grrrr
Anyways, I went through old files I saved from the reinstall and found WoW stuff. I fired it up and starting patching.
So, in about 10 hrs I got close to 50 MB downloaded. Its a 192MB patch. Thats about 30 more hours to go to patch the damn thing. I thought about making a plea for help, you know "can someone pretty please burn me a CD of the patches and mail it to me" But with the speed of the postal system, I'd probably have it patched by the time anything got to me. That said, I may switch to Win2K if its not stable enough.
So, anyways... expect me back in Azeroth by the weekend.
I may or may not return to Proudmoore. I'm very out of practice and I think jumping back into a lvl 35 would be tough. I may start a new lvl 1 dude just to get back in the swing of things. Maybe, I'll try an RP server. Or a very low pop server. Definately Horde Hunter though. I've always played Orc, but I love the look of Tauren. Hrmmmmm
Quick shout outs:
Collin: Convince Kristen that playing WoW will save your sanity.
Liam: You posted a UI mod for WoW a while back that was beyond cool. Got a link?

8:26 am - grr
OK, so... most of you know that I live in a rural area north of a small city in an underpopulated province far, far away from anything resembling "big city life". If you didn't... you do now.

So, imagine my surprise in discovering a munch held somewhat locally. I talked with a women who knew about it (Emma) via IMs one night. She said it consisted of a monthly get together and a Yahoo group with 65 people from across the province. I thouight, 'cool!', a way to connect with other kinksters. Emma told me about the process to join and I signed up for the group. I got the automated letter and filled it out. It was basica question like name, how you found the group and what you were looking for. I sent it on 14 June. After a week of no response, I sent an email to the mods askign if they had received it. I got a brief bit back saying, yes they got it and that they were busy. A week later, nothing. I'm thinking... what the hell? How much time does it take to read an email and decide if the writer is a whacko or not enough to get to the next step? It wasn't even a very long email either. Anyways, I hopped on Yahoo and chatted with Emma about it. Then later, I got the 2nd application email from the group. Fine. I filled it out. Including some lame questions and some which were repeats from the 1st questionaire. Sent that on the 28th of June.
It is now the 19th of July. Thats 3 weeks for those who are calendar deprived. Three weeks without as much as a squeak from the mods. Not even a "we got the message but are still very busy" email. Nothing.
I'm beginning to think this munch isn't going to happen. I wasn't inspired by the assinine questions, nor the obstacle course required to get in. Mind you, I'm at step 2... next is a face-to-face meeting or some such. I've decided the ball is in their court. Its up to them to make me want to join, its no longer up to me to convince them to let me in.
So, do I really need this munch? Will Andrew & I be the only gay folks there? Will it consist of MasterDomlySir and subbiekittyslaves?
I have this overwhelming desire to go visit some largeish city with a gay bar... just to see other gay men. Oh and to get some sushi.

5:40 pm - blah blah blah
Well, Friday was mostly uneventful. I spent some time doing a lot of weeding. The strawberries were getting overgrown by some wood sorrel. I think I filled the 5 gal bucket 5 or 6 times between the berry patch and the beans. Even though strawberries don't yeild very much in their 1st year, we've picked a lot from this new crop. Last years's plants produced bigger berries of course. Next summer, we'll have tonnes.
After my time outside, I crawled upstairs for a nap. I wasn't there too long before someone rang the bell. Now, let me tell you our doorbell is not unlike those bells we had ins chool when we were kids. Big dinner plate sized bell with a striker on the outside. Loud as fuck. Anyways, it was Alan & Gary Jarvis. Gary was the chap who recently accidently put wart remover on a tooth ache instead of Anbasol. I've never met Alan before, although I've heard Gary talk about his son before. He seems like a nice guy. They brought beer (Canadian) and I managed to down 2 cans in about 10 minutes. It was hot, the beer was cold... it was good. Then Tim & Chris show up and we all start speculating on Larry & brood. Seems their plans to get disability have fallen though and they are looking to make a quick getaway. Andrew & I were wondering how much their house would go for on a foreclosure sale.
Sara then shows up, which was unusual given thats it was a Friday. We then talked and drank lots more beer and ate KFC which she brought. Much fun was had by all. Especially Talbot, who now totally loves Sara.
Sara stayed the night and we went to Pam's for breakfast. Andrew & Sara chilled int he front yard for a bit while I wandered about the garden. Staying in one place seemed to draw the bees & horseflies so I did my best to avoid them. After about a half hour, Andrew got fed up and we all drove to the Harvey's Big Potato in Maugerville. Its a farmstand, for you non-natives. We bought some peas and a few cukes then went to the library... but alas this weekend marked the start of summer hours and it was closed.
The rest of Saturday was non eventful. Andrew has had more tooth problems and collasped on the couch. I surfed the net and tried to stay cool. It got around 35 degree and the humidex was pretty high. I got so wrapped up in reading stuff that I didn't put the boys into the barn until almost 11 o'clock. Had to get the lantern out to do it.
This morning was low key as well. I forgot it was Sunday and kept asking Andrew to go into town. Sara showing up on a Friday threw me off. :) It got really hot so I went a layed down for a nap. Then Andrew's mom showed up. Turns out it was the weekend for everyone to visit. She stayed for a little while and mentioned Caroline (Andrew's sister) was headed back from PEI and may stop by on Tuesday. Which means we really have to clean up in here. Two guys living alone = one hell of a freaking mess.
We did manage to go into town today. We wanted something to eat that didn't require inside cooking. So we decided on these tasty Portobello Burgers from the SuperStore. They taste great off the BBQ. Of course, after buying them we decided, "screw this" and got McD's and ate in the AC comfort of the truck. :)

9:58 pm - comics & crap
OK, so rain hasn't stopped, but the power is still on. Had to run outside to put the goat boys in and let me tell you... it was freaking cold! around 16 degrees (60ish for you in the States). It was pouring buckets too... big drops. Worse part was getting out the door as we have no gutters so its like a mini waterfall with the runoff from the roof.
Oh and the boys ripped their feed bucket off the wall somehow. I think they fight over it, they're getting too big for the both of them to eat at the same time. We'll have to rig up some sort of trough for them. They eat like pigs anyways, might as well have a trough.
Ronnie stopped by around 8 o'clock this morning. For what you ask? Not to borrow a cup of sugar. Nope. He wanted a ride into town. For beer. Why you ask? Because he was too fucking drunk to drive himself. Yup... 8 in the morning and he's too blitzed to drive to town. Yet perfectly fine to drive down the road to our place. *sigh* We missed the "I saw a 8 point buck in my front yard yesterday" BBQ at Ronnie's. I'm not about to ask if the cooked weiners or bambi steaks; there are some things in this world where I'd like to claim plausible deniability on. This is one of them.
Now onto comics... spoilers to come, so if you aren't up to date yet... don't click.

7:55 pm - happy happy joy joy
Went to the comic shop today, walked away with 14 books and minus 52 bucks. I hadn't stopped by in 3 weeks, so they really stacked up. Funny how I've been an X-Men fan all my comic book reading life, but the books I really wanted to read were Y: The Last Man and Fables. Y has totally captured my interest and this last issue left me saying, "holy crap! I gotta see what happens!" If you like comics and aren't reading Y, get the trades and get up to speed. Fables is also a must read in my book. Today I got 2 issues and man oh man issue #38 was so cool but it was #39 that really perked my interest. I love the way its all strung together even when its a new arc. Haven't read through the remaining books which are mostly X-books plus I think I saw an Authority in there somewhere.

beh

1. I wanted a PB&J sandwich. But... there is no J left in the house. So it was a plain PB sandwich.
2. There was only 2 slices of bread, thus only 1 sandwich to be had.
3. Larry showed up again. Andrew went to their house to read this letter they got. Something about their disabililty claim. He needs to tell them he's not their caseworker. That and kick them in the shins a few times.
4. I'm horny and Andrew is not here.
5. The goats are looking better everyday. No, this is not related to #4, you sickos!
6. Strawberries are yummy.
7. I posted a few comments on some LJs recently in hopes of making some contacts... we'll see what happens.
8. The book fang_uk recommended comes in tomorrow or Wed. from Saint John.
9. I have to weed the gawddamned corn patch again, someone is putting miracle grow on the quck grass, I swear.
10. Ever want to just go out and buy new socks instead of doing another load of laundry?
11. I'm overloaded with plotbunnies.
12. Can't resub to WoW right now. We maxed the card recently on groceries. Have to wait til its paid down a bit.
13. Need to stake out the new fence this week. Goats need more romping room.
14. thats enuff for now.

11:34 am - odd
This morning I was struck by two things:
1. The desire to Google this guy I knew in Colorado. Chances of me finding him are very slim, but for weird reason I kinda want to.

2. The desire to play WoW again. I even went through mentally what I need to do once I log in. I remember leaving Dosko in Swamp of Sorrows, just around the corner from where the welps spawn. He was 35 and a half. I need to get him to 36 so he can tame a Swamp Jag. So I was thinking about doing that little quest where you destory the blue crystal thingies. It was a toughie to do on Hellscream at 38, but with luck and tactics, I should be OK.
In order to play again, I'll probably have to switch back to Win2k. XP for some reason isn't stable on this machine. I've tried everything to correct the problem. Tried every blasted video driver out there, even old versions. Still crashes like a mofo while doing anything 3D. I'll have to burn all my good crap onto disk before I do the switch though. Might put me out of commission for 2-3 days. Is it worth it? Oh and I'll have to resub for WoW too, since mine lasped.
